The 744 experience is the Boeing 747 flight simulator & upper deck experience located in Tattenhall, Cheshire, UK. This unique experience offers its guests to be in control of the retired British Airways Boeing 747 and to experience being a passenger seated in the Upper deck business class cabin (the old Club World).
The simulator is overseen by professional sim engineers using sections of the 747 orginal framework, parts and instruments. The 744 experince has been created for anyone interested in aviation to have a glance on what the behind the scenes look like to fly this iconic jumbo jet.
This is a full immersive experience with 220-degree vision and enhanced surround sound. You can participate in a fully instructed fixed-base B474-400 simulator session and onboard dining experiences, including afternoon tea and special themed meals.
Background on the 744 Experience
During spring in 2020, airlines had a massive drop in passenger numbers, and the airline industry was suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Commercial aircraft were flown to temporary storage sites across the world. The British Airways Boeing 747 with its four engines and huge capacity, were no longer needed which resorted in the aircraft retiring.
The British Airways Boeing 747 was loved by many people with the upper deck being the most preffered cabin class. Deemed “the queen of the skies” it seemd a shame to get rid of such a beautiful plane as most of them would be “parted out” then cut into small pieces for memorabilia or would get recycled.
The 744 experience offers aviation fans to experience this beloved plane once more as it once was. Everything in this plane is as it would have been if you were flying on the plane back in 1999-2020. It has the complete B747-436 Upper Deck Business Class seated cabin – rows 60-64 G-BYGG for the true upper deck experience. Even in the cockpit, the simulators are exactly the same.
The 744 Experience
The flight simulator is fully complete with original instruments and avionics. It has a G-CIVM flight deck that lives on a fixed base B747-436 simulator and procedures trainer.
You can take off and fly to one of a hundred airports around the world using the original controls from the original British Airways Boeing 747.
There is a choice of two short-haul flights, 90 minutes or 150 minutes.

- Experience engines start-up, push back, taxi, take-off, climb, cruise, descent, landing and shutdown, all simulated within our original and fully operational former British Airways B747-400 cockpit. You may like to come prepared with an idea of which airports and/or scenic areas you would like to experience, but it is not essential

The 744 Experience review
I thoroughly enjoyed the 744 experience due to its uniqueness and being a huge aviation nerd. The whole set-up was amazing from start to finish. I loved that the airline toilet was usable and that all the flight deck and simulators were authentic. Also loved that the seats move to lie flat beds just like it would in the air – amazing.
There is access for all as the 744 experience can be step-free.
